Editor’s Note

New Yorker with an Indian Heart

Cities are remembered for their skylines.

People are remembered for what they choose to carry through them.

New York celebrates reinvention. Yet the stories that endure are rarely about becoming someone else. They are about becoming more yourself.

That is the quiet craft of Dimple Chhibber.

She didn’t bring India to New York.

She gave it another place to grow.

"Some people cross oceans to build a new life. Others build bridges so no one forgets where they came from."

"Home is not always where you live. Sometimes it is what you choose to carry."

The Geography of Belonging

The city never asked Dimple to become less Indian.
Instead, it gave her the freedom to become more herself.

Between school visits, museum afternoons, neighbourhood conversations and quiet evenings at home, she built a life where culture is not preserved behind glass, but lived every day.

Curator’s Note

Some creators make beautiful things.

Others create beautiful communities. Through language, art and everyday rituals, Dimple Chhibber has quietly built a living bridge between India and New York.
